Literature Text

Staring at the broken pieces
Scattered all over the ground
Wielding fix-it-all duct tape
Wishing time could be rewound

Picking up one piece at a time
While thinking of everything
Piecing them back together carefully
Wanting it all to be a bad dream

Couldn't I have prevented this
If only the distance wasn't so far
I would have been there for you
There to put your heart in a safety jar

But nothing can be changed now
I don't have the tools to build that time machine
I wish I could hit restart
Or to make your life less mean

Instead all I have are words
Instead all I can do is try to reassure you
All I can do is promise that things will be better tomorrow
And that I'll love you no matter what you do

Sad but great poem.
