Standing in the midst of the comic book store
Behind racks of action figures and video games
Running my fingers over crisp edges of brand new comic books
I sense it
Or rather, Him
The bell on the front door rings
And he passes through the threshold
Peeking through Domo hats and Naruto banners
I see him glide around the counter
Almost like Darth Sidious
Holding a box of pure white
On the front labeled in red is Comic Books
And my heart starts to race
He peels off the lid
And I swear the scent of Star Wars floats toward me
Like a freshly baked pie
Calmly, ever so calmly...
I walk to the counter
And do the unthinkable...
He looks up and grins.
And I see pure gold in the box.
"Hey, come back for the next edition?"
We make a high stakes transaction
I give him a thin, green slip of paper
And he gives me
A way too thin
Glorious, next volume
Of the Lagacy series.
I hug it to my chest happily.
And leave with a skip in my step.
